Night shift Nurses Conversations

The funny thing about conversations between nurses at night is, they can get pretty intense, personal or downright weird. I have never worked a night shift that there wasn't some form of wild communication that ended up having me either shake my head in wonder, up in arms over an issue, ready to try something new (usually involving tattoos, piercings, a new drink or that new hot guy:), laughing hysterically and nearly wetting my pants or crying with someone over some sorrow. It seems that the night crew just appears to have less inhibitions to discussing life and all its myriad complexities then other shifts. Now you may automatically yell "That's not true!", however; in my experience of working all shifts, the night shift can have some doozy conversations.

Is it the closeted quiet of the hospital after the main bustle of doctors have left the halls for the quiet of home and the lights are dimmed and some areas the voices are even toned down in expectation for the rest for the patient? I'm not sure what exactly inspires us to have little "confessionals" and the stories run wild and the emotions are true and deep and a little shifted if you are aware of it.

So, if anyone has any stories or comments or anecdotes about night shift conversations, feel free to let loose and remember this is an adult blog with adult topics and ideas!!!

Let er' rip!
